Fueltek tank sizing calculator

What size fuel tank do you need?

Start with how much fuel your operation uses and how often you expect deliveries. The calculator adds reserve cover and future-growth allowance to give you an indicative minimum storage requirement.

The result is a planning guide. We develop the tank, delivery and installation specification around your site requirements.

Green Fueltek fuel storage tank with integrated twin dispensing equipment at an operational depot

Start with your fuel usage.

Enter typical usage, your delivery interval and reserve or growth allowance. The calculator suggests the next suitable standard Fueltek tank capacity where available.

Choosing useful figures for the calculation
Fuel usage
Use records from a period that represents the operation you are planning. For seasonal or changing work, compare more than one usage scenario and keep a note of which period each figure describes.
Deliveries and reserve
Enter the planned interval between deliveries, then the additional days of reserve you want to explore. Use the growth allowance for expected changes in demand and record the reason for that assumption.
Reading the result
The calculated minimum follows your inputs. The suggested capacity gives you a starting point for discussing the tank's footprint, compartments, access and equipment with Fueltek.

Keep the usage period and allowances with the result. “Add tank to Find Your System” carries the calculation into the equipment-planning journey.

Tip: use a realistic average rather than your quietest week. A larger reserve gives more protection against delivery delays, while the growth allowance leaves room for increased future usage.

Fueltek tank range

Choose the capacity. Then choose the configuration.

FS tanks are normally rectangular and fully bunded. The reference dimension table covers capacities from 1,000 to 130,000 litres; bespoke capacities can extend to 200,000 litres. Dimensions, cabinets and compartments depend on the tank design and site requirements.

01

Standard bunded tank

Rectangular mild-steel storage tank for commercial onsite fuel storage. Start with the capacity table below, then specify dispensing and monitoring equipment around the site.

02

Full-end cabinet

Add a full-end equipment cabinet with roller-shutter access so pumps, controls and associated equipment can be housed as part of the tank package.

03

Compartmentalised tank

Split storage into separate compartments where more than one compatible product needs to be stored and dispensed from the same overall installation.

Compartment split specified per project
04

Custom size or shape

Where the standard footprint does not fit the site, Fueltek can review a non-standard tank size, shape, colour or equipment configuration.

Standard rectangular tank sizes

Dimensions are shown as length × width × height for initial planning. Your installation drawing defines the final tank, base, access and delivery arrangement.

On a narrow screen, scroll sideways to see every column. With a keyboard, focus the table area and use the left and right arrow keys.

Already have dimensions? Check the capacity.

If you already know the internal dimensions of a rectangular tank, use this secondary calculator to estimate its geometric capacity, current contents and ullage.

Understanding the dimension-based estimate

Use the internal length, width and height of the rectangular storage space and select the matching measurement unit. Overall enclosure, bund or equipment-cabinet dimensions can include space that does not hold fuel.

The level setting estimates contents and ullage within that rectangular volume. Actual usable capacity depends on the tank’s geometry, calibration and operating limits.

Next step

A tank arrangement suited to your site.

The calculator gives an indicative capacity. We can then review storage, tank configuration, delivery access, dispensing equipment, Tankwatch monitoring and installation requirements around the actual operation.

Fueltek publishes standard tank capacities from 1,000 litres upward and can arrange non-standard tanks where required. Final suitability remains subject to detailed specification.
