Planning guide
Planning a fuel system installation
Agree the site, equipment and operating responsibilities before installation begins.

01Define the operation
Describe fuel demand, vehicles and assets, peak refuelling windows, fuel products and reporting needs. Record what equipment will remain and what must change.
02Survey the site
Review access for delivery and lifting, the proposed footprint, tanker movements, pipework, electrical supply and communications. Agree the applicable environmental and safety requirements for the particular location.
03Specify the connected system
Select storage, dispensing, authorisation and tank monitoring together. Document the interfaces, data fields, alarm requirements and division of site work between Fueltek and other contractors.
04Commission before handover
Agree acceptance checks for dispensing, identification, recorded transactions, tank readings and reporting. Confirm the people responsible for approving the installation and receiving the operating information.
05Train the users and plan support
Include operators, administrators and staff reviewing reports. Record how faults are raised and which support arrangements apply. Project lead time and installation duration depend on the agreed scope and site readiness.
Practical guidance
Allow for the whole project programme
Indicative project times range from around 2–3 weeks for smaller installations to up to 14 weeks for complete packages.
These times are planning examples. Your agreed programme sets out design approval, equipment availability, civil and electrical work, installation and commissioning. Timing depends on the scope and site requirements.
Your site
Turn the requirement into a specification.
Discuss the equipment, information and support your operation needs.
